Welcome to Villa Laurence a true Aruban gem nestled in the heart of a historic fishing neighborhood that once served as the capital of Aruba until 1795. I am a proud native Aruban, born in 1963, and my connection to this villa runs deep. In the early 1970s, I lived just across the street at my grandparents’ house, watching the legacy of this stone home unfold.
It’s a Special Place
Over the past decade, I’ve passionately dedicated myself to transforming this historic property into a charming and cozy retreat for travelers seeking an authentic Aruban experience. Originally built in the early 1900s, the home was once owned by a guard who passed away in 1944, followed by his wife in 1945. Their son, born in 1908, continued to live in the home, while my grandparents became the first to rent it in 1945 — beginning a tradition of hospitality that has lasted for generations.

Villa Laurence 1911 has a storied past dating back to the early 20th century. Originally owned by a local guard, the home remained in the family for generations. The original owner passed away in 1944, followed by his wife in 1945, leaving their son—born in 1908—to maintain the residence. That same year, my grandparents became the first to rent the house, and for decades, it remained a cherished rental property within the community. Today, Villa Laurence stands as a jewel of Aruba’s history, offering visitors a chance to experience the island’s heritage while enjoying modern amenities in a tranquil setting.
